My Creative Space ... Wire Knitting

This week I attended 'Pull the Wool' a gathering of 70 knitters, hookers, and spinners brought together by the wonderful organisers of Fruit Bowl Craft Jam at the Opera Kitchen in Hastings.

While I can knit, crochet and spin if I put my mind to it, these days I'm all about wire so I thought I'd better refresh my memory on knitting with wire before the event and made a practice wire-knitted cuff using two strands - a lovely plum purple wire and also silver.    I'm quite pleased with my 1st attempt!

  3. Knitting wire? I had seen sculptures before, but always wondered how anyone had the strength to do it. Looks hard, no? Anyway, beautiful result! Congratulations!

  4. Thank you Marie, Jacqui and Mary :). It was not too much different than knitting with yarn just a bit harder on the hands! Luckily craft wire is quite flexible ;).

  10. That looks great! I've never attempted knitting - or crocheting for that matter - with wire. Very effective!

  11. How did you learn to knit wire? Recommendations for a book? Types of knitting needles, etc?
