I spent a lovely day on the weekend taking a trip 40odd minutes south of Napier to Waipukurau and the lovely Pukeora Estate where they were holding their annual 4 day Festival full of fabulous arts, crafts, and eats. It's an unusual venue (a former sanitorium for returning soldiers among other things) atop a hill where free mini vans shuttle the many, many visitors from the rural road parking below up to the Estate.
The quality of goods available is varied, consistently high, and from all around the country and it was a real joy to walk around a market with such an unusual layout (lots of stalls are housed in small 'rooms' and there are a myriad of corridors and 'wings') and take in the sights and sounds as a customer - not something I do often!

A family of sweet tooths - old-fashioned lollies were hand-picked by my boys and ahem... my mother! |

exterior looks are totally deceiving - you would never believe the loveliness held inside! |
I don't like to take photos of specific stalls too much in a market (unless I know the stallholders!) so I didn't take any interior pics but I came away with a divine pack of smoked spices + shaker, a skirt by gbdesigns and a cool outside ornament by
Hooked Up Spirals.
What a fabulous view!
ReplyDeleteI really like it being able to be a shopper rather than a seller at crafty events.
Though very very occasionally I will admit to walking around going "I could make that" :-D
I enjoyed going to "The Festival" and seeing the great array of crafted goodies, nice to bump into you Mel. cheers
