This week I attended 'Pull the Wool' a gathering of 70 knitters, hookers, and spinners brought together by the wonderful organisers of Fruit Bowl Craft Jam at the Opera Kitchen in Hastings.
While I can knit, crochet and spin if I put my mind to it, these days I'm all about wire so I thought I'd better refresh my memory on knitting with wire before the event and made a practice wire-knitted cuff using two strands - a lovely plum purple wire and also silver. I'm quite pleased with my 1st attempt!
To see more creative spaces this week I recommend your visit 'Our Creative Spaces'
WOW !! So cool Mel, cheers Marie
ReplyDeleteLooks great, can't believe it's your first attempt. Well done!
ReplyDeleteKnitting wire? I had seen sculptures before, but always wondered how anyone had the strength to do it. Looks hard, no? Anyway, beautiful result! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie, Jacqui and Mary :). It was not too much different than knitting with yarn just a bit harder on the hands! Luckily craft wire is quite flexible ;).
ReplyDeleteJust perfect! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteWish you a nice day/ Eva
Thank you Eva :)

ReplyDeleteWow, this is a new level of knitting, I've seen crocheting with wire before but I really like what you did here, it looks great! I can't believe it's your first attempt either!
ReplyDeleteThank you 'Limar', Denise, and Mel :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I've never attempted knitting - or crocheting for that matter - with wire. Very effective!
ReplyDeleteHow did you learn to knit wire? Recommendations for a book? Types of knitting needles, etc?
