I originally wrote this post for New Zealand Handmade (published earlier this week) but I thought it was worth repeating as a little known and very cool feature of Facebook should be shouted from the rooftops!..
This is one for anyone who has a business page on Facebook and anyone who is a fan of purchasing on-line... is that most people?... thought it might be!!
Payvment (Shop Now) is an e-commerce application for Facebook - in short - it's a completely free way of having a shop containing your items on your Facebook business page. Transactions are via your paypal account so everything is safe, secure and I have to say for both the seller and the buyer ... in my experience, ultra easy!
A snap shot of my shop now tab .. a work in progress it may not look like this tomorrow!! |
Some examples of the listing options - you can also add 'options' such as colour, size etc, discounts, shipping, tax, change the currency of your listing, categorise, etc |
Now I'm not saying it's perfect .... I just tried searching for my items and discovered that the Mall is in 'Beta Testing' and currently only displays items listed in US Dollars which prevents my listings from being visible to the general searching public (but this will change so the tech support people advise).
You are also unable to tweek the 'look' of your shop other than featured items etc. But once you get the hang of it, it is another option to consider when looking at ways to sell your creations, or from the buyers point of you ... buy from your favourite Facebook pages.
Here are 3 of my favourite NZ makers with Shop Now tabs on their Facebook Pages:
By Nature Bamboo Lingerie
Feel At Home
Fantail Digital Art
Now - for those that use 'shop now' on their pages, or have purchased from people via 'shop now' - how do/did you find it?
(Please note: this is not an official review and the opinions expressed are those of me only :) )
I discovered 'Shop Now' after seeing Feel at Home's shop. It is relatively easy to set up, and free is definitely a great feature. I personally have not made a single sale on it, but have only had it active for a few weeks, and I do tend to refer customers to my own website. It looks like it would be great for running Facebook only sales etc... to generate some buzz. I'm interested to hear how others find it as a point of sale compared to their other outlets.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention Mel :) It is a great application, easy to use and for free I can't complain! I've not had any sales from it yet, but haven't exactly advertised that it is there, and like you found my items don't seem to come up in the search, thanks for clarifying why that is!
ReplyDeleteOh Natalie - I hadn't seen yours - I'm off to check it out now :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes both Pam and Natalie, I am the same - I've had a couple of sales but forget to promote it. It's on my radar now ;)
