Wildflower Designs at Martinborough Fair 2013

Pictures usually say it best so I thought I'd share my experience as a Martinborough Fair stallholder with a couple of photo collages...

Full car ready to go on the 3 ½ hour trip to the Wairarapa, A speedy visit to Paua World Carterton, The Village Cafe, Martinborough is tops for atmosphere, service, surroundings and gluten free pasta/pizza/desert options :), As always our stay at Barbara & Teds B&B was relaxing with great views over the rural countryside and nice to catchup with the other regular stallholders who also stay there, each in their own room named after a bird - guess which room we were in?!.  A reckie of our site and a wander around the town + a night time hunt in the tree-filled square to help a couple of navigationally confused stallholders find their site finished our 'day before' preparations.

Barbara does THE BEST breakfast spread to fuel Stallholders for the day ahead complete with GF cereal and toast for me, freshly squeezed juice, homemade jams and even gets up at 4.30am to make sure we have our scones and ginger cake to go!  A 5am stall setup is a 1st but very necessary as savvy buyers are already coming through by 7am.  It was completely impossible for me to leave the stall to take photos from 8am on so I couldn't capture the busyness of the event (I did attempt a video of the crowds but was a bit conscious that people were trying to move out of the way so gave up!).  My mum was a great help and also did super well selling her platters featuring her original artwork - Yay!
A great event, top organisation by the Wairarapa Rotary, lovely customers, fab weather - LOVED it.  I'm thinking next time a 3rd helper would be great so I could do some shopping too!

Did you attend as a stall holder or customer?  I'd love to know your thoughts :)....

    1. I sure did thanks Jocelyn! I was actually surprised how far people travel to attend - at the B&B I was staying at there was one couple from Mangawhai Heads, and one stallie from central Auckland - that is one heck of a trip fully laden with stock etc!
