Having received some beautiful hand-dyed leather cord recently, I decided the time couldn't be better to make one and the verdict on my Facebook page was to do a double wrap!
Here is the result .... I used a mother of pearl button for the 'clasp', czech fire-polished beads in blues and rich teals, and some sweet wee silver flower beads. Following a completely random colour pattern the only constant was the placing of silver bead every 7 glass beads.
These really are such fun to make, and while I made mine up as I went along, I've found a great tutorial here if you want to give it a whirl yourself.
If you're not a jewellery maker with a big stash of beads to chose from you can find all of the things to make these from an 'Emporium' style of shop, and definately somewhere like Spotlight (NZ and Aus). Don't be afraid to substitute leather cord for satin rattail or cotton cord - whatever you choose will make it even more personal to you!
Oooh I love it Mel! Thanks for the tutorial link, I think it might be time to use some of those beads I have stashed away! :)
ReplyDeleteCool Pam - would be great to see what you come up with :D
DeleteJust delightful Mel, cheers Marie
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fay :)
DeleteI've been meaning to make these for ages, you know how it is? A to-do list as long as your arm!
ReplyDeleteI love your colour choices - my fave colours : )
And thanks for the link to the tute.
You're welcome planettreasures - post a pic if you make one wont you?
DeleteThanks for sharing the tutorial! I haven't seen these because I am hopelessly behind on what's hot and current, but it looks great and super easy to make once you know how.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment Amy - I tend not to follow trends too much either - wear what you like I say! It is a super easy bracelet to make and you get into quite a rhythm once you start :) Mel
DeleteDarn it Mel, I already have so many 'wanna do' projects and now the list just got longer with this one that just got added to it! :-D
ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm sorry Gill but I'm not! Add it to your list and show me if/when you get a chance to make one (no time limit :D ).
DeleteThat is so very pretty with all those blues and greens! I've been meaning to make a similar style of bracelet for myself for ages, but using a mix of pearls instead...I really should go and do it, shouldn't I, LOL.
ReplyDeletePearls would look great Deb :D. I had the intention of using a few in this bracelet but found I could not pass the thread I was using through the pearl twice which you need to do. Possibly if you used a thinner linen type thread it would work?
