This past couple of weeks I’ve been seeking to become more organised – in work, home, my creative passions, everything really!
This has been brought about with my oldest son changing schools and the requirement to be out of the house by a certain time each day or the rest all turns custard like and I never quite recover my equilibrium!
Now I know this will be a familiar story to a lot of people – the eternal struggle for a work/life/home balance we working parents (and when I say working, I mean both at home or in the outside world) seek to conquer on a daily basis.
And I’ve been told that it’s impossible – I don’t buy that, I think it’s a matter of finding what works for you and yours for a certain time frame and then tweaking it as changes occur. Surely it’s manageable if not solveable isn’t it? I’m optimistic anyway!
In my search for the ultimate balance right for our family, I’ve been looking at things in sections – I’ve started with my Creative business as it is my absolute passion and so I figure the area of my life I am going to find easiest and most fun to ‘sort’.
It’s the little things for me , I’ve re-written my business plan including coming up with a new mission statement that’s set to keep me on target (Nin from The Wardrobe was a great inspiration for this – you can read her thoughts on the subject here). Along with this, I have refocused on my blog writing and was further inspired after reading ‘52 weeks of blogging your passion’ by the uber clever Tara Gentile. I hope you enjoy the new content-rich approach to my future posts – I’m really excited about it!
Next on the list was starting a diary with achievable lists for the day (I just love ticking things of a list), and if anything’s missed, then hey, it just goes on the next day … no stress J .
And my best, jump up and down with excitement, inspired purchase was two x storage caddies with castors purchased from the Country Traders in Waipawa during our recent Road Trip.
I can’t tell you how much this has changed the way I work and decluttered my head and my workspace – you just have NO idea the joy I have at actually being able to find things, not just things…. I can find EVERYTHING!! Originally I just purchased one of these babies and then I decided I’d get another and have one for finished items and one for components.

I have half-hearted tries every few months, I will be reading for inspiration :-)
Love that you were early for school and that he noticed:) Cool trolley!
ReplyDeleteI think a life in balance is like walking on a tightrope; it is possible but you always have to be aware of where you are and where you want to get to in each moment.
