We recently took a family trip across the Tasman to visit family and on the way stopped in Sydney for a day or 3.

I love Sydney - it's vibrant, has great public transport, and is full of different things to do. We did lots - bussed around the City, took a ferry to Taronga Zoo, went to the Aquarium, explored Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, visited the International Car show...... AND my absolute favourite place ... The Rocks. Not only one of the oldest parts of Sydney and very beautiful to take a walking tour of, on the weekends they have the 'Rocks Markets' - and you don't find cheap imported rubbish here - quality and variety only!
I whipped my family over there on the Saturday we were due to be picked up by family and head North. When I say 'whipped' we took all our luggage on the bus and then lugged it 500m to the markets!!
I only had chance to take one photo as I didn't want stall-holders to think I was trying to rip them off by snapping their wares, and believe it or not, only bought from one stall - the most amazing mixed flavour liquorice - but the the atmosphere and visual interest was so great I could've happily stayed all day. And don't even get me started on the food options at the nearby cafe/restaurants - gluten free pide - I mean come on... how lucky can you get!!
The best part? I discovered a bead shop just down from the markets. Having taken an epic walk to the only bead shop I knew of in Sydney and being truly disappointed a couple of days earlier, my expectations were low - well 2 steps into the 'Bead Bar' and I was in heaven! Beautiful, beautiful pearls at amazing prices were a highlight and I bought my favourites. I even had to come back a few days later (family again in tow but minus the luggage!), to purchase another strand!!
